The Agreement on cooperation between Crnogorski elektroprenosni sistem (CGES) and Elektromreža Srbije (EMS) is a very important document that will enable the successful implementation of the planned tasks and goals of both companies related to the construction of the interconnection 400 kV line Pljevlja - Bajina Bašta - Višegrad, a project within the ongoing Trans-Balkan Corridor, which aims to improve the conditions of electricity transmission between the northern and southern parts of the region and thus enable further integration of the electricity market, as one of the priorities of the European energy policy.
The signatories of the Agreement, executive directors of CGES and EMS, Ivan Asanović and Jelena Matejić, assessed that this act will contribute to the improvement and strengthening of mutual cooperation between the two companies within their competencies and in accordance with the legislation and international agreement of their countries to ensure the coordination of activities that should enable the implementation of the new electricity interconnection project between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Montenegro.
As announced, the conditions are being met for high-quality cooperation, which includes the exchange of relevant information, knowledge, experiences, organising joint preparatory and preliminary activities, and one of the projected benefits will be mutual support as a precondition for the implementation of a project of mutual interest.
Crnogorski elektroprenosni sistem and Elektromreža Srbije aim to improve the quality of transmission services that will be in line with all European standards and requirements. They will also strive to play an active role in the electricity market and contribute to its development in the region of Southeast Europe, and one of the benefits is, of course, the integration of renewable energy sources.
As a reminder, the 400 kV double-circuit overhead line Pljevlja - Bajina Bašta - Višegrad, as part of the Trans-Balkan Corridor, ensures a better power connection of Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia with the immediate environment and Europe. This cluster also consists of the submarine cable project Montenegro - Italy, as well as investments in the construction of an internal 400 kV network in Montenegro and Serbia and interconnection 400 kV overhead lines between Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Romania.
