Additional energy stability for over 25,000 consumers of the part of the city across the river Morača

Crnogorski elektroprenosni sistem (CGES) has provided additional energy stability for over 25,000 consumers in a part of the Capital, which will contribute to its further development and where the implementation of numerous infrastructure projects is expected.

Mijat Mirković, the Director of the Sector for Development and Investments in CGES, said this, stating that the total value of works is EUR 2.1 million.

He explained that the substations Podgorica 1 and Podgorica 4 are connected with a 110 kV line, which in short means that CGES, by providing bidirectional power supply to the substation in Tološi, has ensured reliability in supplying a large part of the Capital's consumption.

“In addition, the completion of this project contributes to the further development of the part of the city across the river Morača, where the implementation of numerous infrastructure projects is expected. The development of the city requires a modern electricity infrastructure, so CGES, following the growing needs for electricity, initiated the implementation of this very complex project, not only in technical terms but also under very specific conditions caused by the coronavirus in which numerous activities were carried out”, Mirković explained. As he explained, the newly built line is of a mixed type: from the substation Podgorica 1 to the location Vranići, it was constructed as an overhead line, while from Vranići to the substation Podgorica 4, an underground cable was laid through a populated area.

“The laying of the 110 kV underground cable is being performed for the second time in Podgorica, and with the investment of this type, it contributes to the modernisation of the transmission network, all with the goal of safer and better supply of parts of Podgorica that are expanding rapidly”, Mirković said.

He added that CGES, by applying such technical-technological solutions, which primarily refer to avoiding the visual impact of the overhead line that occupies space, has a positive effect on the quality of life of the citizens of Podgorica, taking into account environmental protection.

“The implementation of this project is proof that CGES is making great efforts to improve and develop its network, from which not only citizens benefit, but also potential investors”, Mirković emphasised.
