Twenty-six students in the first year of specialist studies at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering visited the Lastva substation today and got acquainted with the latest high-voltage equipment solutions.
The visit was arranged by Crnogorski elektroprenosni sistem, as part of many years of good cooperation with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.
The students of the Energy and Automation Program, Department – Electric Power Systems were introduced in detail by CGES engineer Aleksa Knežević to the operation of the substation, which is also part of the energy interconnection between Montenegro and Italy.
PR manager of Crnogorski elektroprenosni sistem Nada Pavićević told the substation Lastva was one of the most important electric power facilities.
"Twenty-six students had today the opportunity to learn about the operation of this facility, which was built to the highest technical and technological standards. I believe these young people, thanks to the exceptional host engineer Aleksa Knežević, will make the most of today’s experience in pursuing their professional development", pointed out Pavićević.
She said that CGES as a socially responsible company thus had supported the model of connecting theory and practice.
"We deem it the key to success. We need to provide students with as much practical knowledge as possible in order to have quality engineering staff in the future that would be able to respond to all challenges. This visit, which has long become a practice of our company, serves as evidence of symbiosis between CGES and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, which benefit most the students", concluded Pavićević.
Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Vladan Radulović deems such visits are extremely useful for students because of instilling profound knowledge into them.
"They examine the process, equipment and procedures they are only theoretically familiar with at the Faculty. The special significance of visiting the Lastva substation is that the students had the opportunity to see the most up-to-date high-voltage equipment solutions, the 400 and 110 kV gas insulated switchgear. This makes this substation unique in Montenegro, especially if we know that this substation is part of the interconnection between Montenegro and Italy", told professor Radulović. On behalf of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, he thanked CGES for organizing this visit, expecting the cooperation to continue in the future.
Students also consider today’s visit very useful for practical training.
Student Maja Vujisić told that it was very important for students to supplement theory with practical knowledge.
"It is very important for us students to visit such facilities, because at the Faculty we are focused on theory and have an ideal theoretical basis, that is, a basis for further progress and development. However, theory is quite dry unless we can apply it in practice, and this is a real switchgear and facility which bring theory to life making it meaningful. This is an ideal opportunity for us to visit it, as well as facilities which we implemented earlier in cooperation with CGES", pointed out the student Maja Vujisić.
