Montenegro has sufficient professional and scientific potential to help move in the energy sector more dynamically, especially in the field of hydro potential, and the idea of establishing an Energy Council should be taken into consideration.
This was announced at the opening of the 6th Session of the Montenegrin National Committee of the International Council on Large Electric Systems (CG KO CIGRE).
The President of CG KO CIGRE, Milutin Ostojić, told that the latest professional and scientific knowledge and experience in the field of power generation, transmission, distribution and consumption and environmental protection will be presented to the professional community at the 6th Session, following the CIGRE objectives.
"Participants in the 6th Session will have the opportunity to take part in discussions at the sessions of study committees and thus contribute to addressing the current issues in the energy sector in general, with special reference to Montenegro and future development of this sector", told Ostojić.
He pointed out that significant activities were carried out in the energy sector of Montenegro over the past two years.
"Here I mean the successful laying of I pole of submarine cable between Italy and Montenegro, which is expected to be put into operation these days, the construction of converter station and SS 400/110/35 kV at Lastva, which are connected to the transmission lines 2x400 kV “Lastva-Čevo“, or SS “Lastva“ is connected to 400 kV transmission line “Podgorica – Trebinje“ by the input-output system, told Ostojić.
According to him, in the field of renewable energy sources "we have moved on".
"In 2017, 26 wind power generators were put into operation at Krnovo, with the total installed capacity of 72 MW and planned annual generation of 200 GWh. The initial experience in the operation of WPP Krnovo is extremely favourable. Besides, trial operation of WPP Možura has also started, told Ostojić.
He pointed out that these projects, as well as some projects that are planned, have made Montenegro become a significant energy node.
Ostojić believes that Montenegro has sufficient professional and scientific potential to help move in the energy sector more dynamically, particularly in terms of the utilization of hydro potential.
Minister of sustainable development and tourism, Pavle Radulović, recalled that Montenegro has been a member of CIGRE for 11 years, adding that this association will celebrate its existence in the next few years.
"I would like to recall that in the 15th century there was a state printing house in this small area. Unfortunately, we were not in the position to follow technical and technological innovations, however, just imagine what the CG CIGRE Committee would look like in 1921. Today we are fortunate to have people who represent us worthily there", told Radulović.
The Montenegrin CIGRE Steering Committee unanimously decided to award the Lifetime Achievement Award to a prominent expert, ETF Retired Professor, former vice dean at the University of Montenegro and former Education Minister, Sreten Škuletić.
Representative of CIGRE Regional Conference for South East Europe - SEERC and President of CIGRE Serbia, Nebojša Petrović told that CIGRE, unlike other organizations, is a professional association where the research institutions, university institutions and electric power industry are meeting.
"Through this work we come up with technical solutions and analyses, brochures, recommendations", told Petrović.
At the opening ceremony, the plaques were handed to the sponsors of the 6th Session of CG CIGRE Committee: Crnogorski elektroprenosni sistem (CGES), Crnogorski elektrodistributivni sistem (CEDIS) and Elektroprovreda Crne Gore.
On behalf of CGES, the plaque was received by Executive Director Dragan Kujović.
The topics for three round tables organized within the session are "European standard EN 50341-1:2012 concerning the design and construction of overhead lines above 1 kV", "Wind and PV impact on system security in the future", and a special round table, he told, will be devoted to the Energy Sector Development Plans in Montenegro.
On the study committees, 100 accepted papers will be announced, and the scientific paper of the 6th session will be followed by business presentations and technical exhibition of domestic and foreign companies, with their latest achievements in the energy sector.
