CGES ENERGIZES TRANSMISSION LINE LASTVA-ČEVO

As a part of the Submarine Interconnection Project between Montenegro and Italy, which positions our country as a significant energy hub in the Balkans, Crnogorski Elektroprenosni Sistem AD proceeds with functional high-voltage testing.

In this regard,  after successfully performed operational tests, on 2 April 2019  CGES will energize 2x400 kV transmission line "Lastva-Čevo", that is connected to the existing 400kV transmission line "Podgorica - Trebinje", thus creating conditions for the continuation of  tests to be performed by the Italian partner in the converter station, so that the submarine cable be ready for commercial use, which is planned in the second half of the year.

To recall, this is a project of the European Union and Energy Community interest,  which speaks enough about significance of this investment that surely goes far beyond the Montenegrin borders. This connection will contribute to the stability of the Montenegrin power system and more reliable and higher quality supply of electricity to consumers as well. Increasing transmission capacities and providing safe and high-quality electricity supply will create preconditions for faster economic development.

We also point out that the implementation of this project has established a direct connection between Montenegro and the EU electricity market as a good precondition for realization of energy potential in the region, i.e. creating further preconditions for investments in generation and transmission capacities in Montenegro and in the neighbouring countries.
