The school bus, for which Crnogorski elektroprenosni sistem (CGES) has donated 20,000 euros, will allow students of sub-Durmitor villages to enjoy comfortable, safe and regular transport to and from the primary school, thus solving in the long run the longstanding problem of student transport in Žabljak.
This was announced today at a ceremony outside the Elementary School "Dušan Obradović" in Žabljak, where CGES Executive Director Dragan Kujović handed the keys of the school bus to the headmaster Zoran Vojinović.
CGES Executive Director, Dragan Kujović pointed out that the school bus was purchased for the purpose of transporting students from sub-Durmitor villages to and from school.
"My satisfaction is even greater, because CGES had no dilemma about whether to support this idea or not. Everything was agreed in a very short time. We have earmarked funds for your bus, thus providing safe and warm transport to and from school", Kujović said.
It is typical of CGES, as a socially responsible company, he said, to support as much as possible what is beneficial to a wider social community.
"Besides these smiles, which are the greatest gratitude that I see on your faces today, I feel this as investing in our future. You are our future. Among you there are many future doctors of science, professors, waiters, cooks, teachers and I am glad to see you smile," Kujović said.
Vojinović said that only what is good and valuable in that school is accepted as a tradition.
"In the past few years, much has been achieved with the full attention and support from donors, people of a great heart," Vojinović said.
According to him, the donation is very important because we cannot imagine any modern society without good schools and teachers.
"The vision of the educational process in this institution is not only limited to what students are learning in school, but is designed to encompass a school that is open, interactive, networked, modernly equipped, oriented towards contemporary trends, and a place where students are happy to come and with whom both teachers and parents are satisfied," Vojinović said.
The valuable donation will, as he pointed out, allow the vision to be fulfilled and facilitate the students' access to school and performance of extracurricular activities.
"Improving school cooperation with social partners, motivating new partners to provide their support is outlined in the development plan as one of the key activities in the forthcoming four-year period. So far, the school has implemented several key donations and projects, however, it seems to me that none has left such a big impression on students like this one," Vojinović said.
He said that, in addition to the school and CGES, the Ministry of Education and the municipality of Žabljak participated in the implementation of the project as well.
The Mayor of Žabljak, Veselin Vukićević, said that the children are hope for a better tomorrow, and their education is a key factor in further progress of the society.
"It is therefore of paramount importance to provide adequate conditions for their education. We need to have a special feeling towards our youngest inhabitants and devote them full attention. In all segments, we are endeavoring to improve the quality of life in Žabljak, with an emphasis on facilitating the conditions for people who have chosen to live in the countryside and their children", Vukičević said.
From year to year, as he explained, the local government allocates more and more funds for education by purchasing textbooks, rewarding the best students, scholarships for students, support to extracurricular activities of schools and kindergartens.
“And in the days ahead, I can confidently say that we will not neglect the needs of our educational institutions and children, but instead we will work more intensively on financial and other forms of support", Vukičević said.
A student of the school “Dušan Obradović”, Tamara Dakić thanked the donors, who, as she explained, provided comfortable, safe and regular transport of students from remote rural areas by purchasing a school bus.
"We are grateful to you for solving the longstanding problem of student transport in the long run and allowing children to attend classes without interruption. You have enriched our childhood and education with this gift because, as you know, a school bus is the place where the first school love is born, the secrets of students revealed, forgotten homework done, lessons learned repeated, school anecdotes told, and often songs about the gigantic Durmitor and its beauties heard", Dakić said.
