As of 23 December 2016 Crnogorski elektroprenosni sistem organized a ceremony on the occasion of the completion of a new substation 110/35/10 kV “Kotor” and putting into operation of 110 kV overhead line “Tivat-Kotor”, thereby creating a long-term solution to secure and quality power supply of consumer area of Kotor. The ceremony was held in substation “Kotor” in Škaljari.

Construction of SS 110/35/10 kV “Kotor” and 110 kV OHL “Tivat-Kotor” is the project of connection of one of the most important tourist centers of Montenegro to transmission network, whereby security and quality of power supply will be significantly improved. The project implementation included, first of all, the construction of SS 110/35 kV “Kotor” (Škaljari), a closed type switchgear, following the most modern GIS technology (gas switchgear instead of air switchgear), the construction of overhead line 110 kV “Tivat – Kotor” in the total length of 5,9 kilometers as a single circuit overhead line from Tivat to Trojice, and as a double circuit line from Trojice to tower no. 26 nearby SS “Kotor” for the purpose of future connection to SS 400/110/35 kV “Lastva”. Besides, CGES installed a new transformer, 20 MVA (mega volt ampere) capacity, in SS “Kotor”, thereby significantly increasing connection capacity for future consumers.

CGES managed to complete this capital project within the planned deadline, and its putting into operation has provided 110 kV voltage to Kotor, which will ensure much more secure power supply of this consumer area. Construction of substation will contribute to the implementation of future development projects of this municipality.
“It is precisely this investment that is one of key points for secure power supply of Kotor. What characterizes this technologically modern electric power facility is, first of all, the fact that it occupies less space, thus perfectly fitting in urban environment. Negative visual effects are also minimized. Speaking of this substation, there is also lower environmental impact, which proves Crnogorski elektroprenosni sistem to be the company having strong awareness of environmental protection which is present in both transmission network development planning process and regular operation and maintenance of transmission system. In addition to reduced losses in electric power system of Montenegro, the substation will contribute to better power supply of consumers in this part of Montenegrin coastal area. Expected benefits from this project are improved reactive conditions in the area of Kotor, load-shed of transformation 110/35 kV in SS “Tivat”, etc.” –CGES Executive Director Ivan Bulatović pointed out.
The mayor of Kotor, Aleksandar Stjepčević, told on this occasion: “I am proud to say that already today people in Kotor have safer and quality power supply. The entire municipality will have benefits therefrom since stronger and more stable power supply opens the road to new investors to whom the enhanced and reinforced power supply system will be a guarantee for safe business operations in our city”.

The total value of investments amount to six million euro. In addition to national labor forces, the construction of SS 110/35 kV “Kotor” was entrusted to Consortium consisting of “EuroZox” and partners, while 110 kV overhead line was constructed by “Elnos-Podgorica” and their subcontractors.
In the following period the priority objective of CGES will be to develop transmission network to the north and south of country, taking account of the needs of present and future customers. CGES believes that investments they are implementing have a strong impact on economic activity in country and they have shown company’s stability and strength through all past projects and those whose implementation is anticipated as well.
