Within the project of submarine interconnection of Montenegro with Italy, which positions our country as a significant energy hub in the Balkans, Crnogorski elektroprenosni sistem continues functional high-voltage tests. In this regard, on 8 December 2021, CGES will energise 400 kV overhead line Lastva-Čevo-Pljevlja - section Čevo-Brezna-Bukovica, 72 kilometres long.
We would like to remind you that this is a project of interest to the European Union and the Energy Community, which speaks volumes about the importance of the investment that goes beyond Montenegrin borders. With this connection, the electricity system of Montenegro will be more stable, and the supply of consumers with electricity will be safer and of better quality. By increasing transmission capacities and ensuring safe and quality electricity supply, preconditions are created for faster economic development.
We emphasise that the project implementation establishes a direct connection of Montenegro with the electricity market in the EU, which is a good precondition for realising energy potentials of the region, i.e. creating preconditions for investment in generation and transmission capacities in Montenegro and the neighbouring area.
The voltage test will be implemented based on the Decision of the Administration for Inspection Affairs on the overhead line about 72 kilometres long. The voltage test is planned to last from 10:00 to 11:00.
